Electrical Distribution Designer, Santa Ana, CA

Cordoba Corp. is seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Engineer for our growing energy engineering team.

  • Location: Santa Ana / San Diego
  • Compensation: Commensurate with ability and experience

 

 
Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of electric distribution projects in both overhead and underground configurations
  • Must have a background as an electrical designer or planner with SDG&E or other comparable large electric utility
  • Working knowledge of GO95 and GO128 requirements
  • Experience in pole-loading programs such as O-Calc or similar
  • Good understanding of both OH and UG construction, poles, conduits, substructures, cable and wire types, and connections
  • Good knowledge of drafting techniques and technologies such as CAD
    Working knowledge of electric utility safe work practices
  • Utilizing knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Outlook) and computer applications

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Transmission design or background
  • Familiarity with SDG&E design and construction standards
  • Background as a journeyman lineman or cable splicer
  • Experience with PLS-CADD or O-Calc overhead design software

 

Other:

  • California driver’s license
  • Be physically able to access pole sites, some of them remote
  • Be willing to work in high vehicle traffic areas at times
  • Be willing to work in and around underground electrical vaults (with a utility-authorized Qualified Electrical Worker)

 

Education Requirement:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree or Trade School certification in engineering, drafting, or electrical design is preferred
