George L. Pla

President & C.E.O.

George L. Pla is President, CEO, and founder of Cordoba Corporation, an engineering and construction management firm based in Los Angeles. For 25 years, he has provided the leadership and vision to grow Cordoba into one of the top civil engineering and construction management firms in the nation. He has guided Cordoba since its inception as an urban planning firm to its current form providing construction management and engineering services to large public infrastructure projects throughout the Western United States. George has been named by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics, and Cordoba is currently ranked by as one of the top ten service providers in California, and one of the top fifty high tech companies in the country. George’s successful founding and continual stewardship of Cordoba Corporation is featured in a curriculum case study used by the Harvard Business School.

George L. Pla also serves as the Chairman of the Cardinal Americas Fund, a $150 million private equity fund which invests in niche markets and targets companies in the infrastructure space. George is also a founding member, investor, and director of Santa Ana Business Bank. He was an investor and member of the Board of Directors at First American Bank, which was successfully sold in 2005.

George L. Pla is a member of the Board of Regents of Loyola Marymount University, a Presidential Associate at the University of Southern California and co-founder of the USC Mexican American Alumni Association. George is a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Science Center Foundation, and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Catalina Island Conservancy, which stewards approximately 42,000 acres on Catalina Island through a balance of conservation, education and recreation.

The entrepreneurial and political achievements of George L. Pla have been featured in seven books, including Hispanic USA, Nine Nations of America, CEO’s Speak Out, The Politics of Aging, Eastside Landmark, Job Training That Gets Results, and Building Bridges of Understanding.

George L. Pla holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the California State University at Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.
