Downtown Educational Complex

Downtown Educational Complex
Oakland Unified School District

Cordoba is a member of the Bond Management Team providing district wide PMCM services for the $420 million dollar bond program. One of the bond program projects is the Downtown Educational Complex (DEC).

A long awaited project, the DEC will contain the new state-of-the-art La Escuelita Elementary School, Met West High School, combined Child Development Centers and a community health clinic. The design vision is for an integrated campus that fosters an enhanced teaching and learning environment for K-12 students on just 5.7 acres. The project budget is $75 million and is funded through a combination of funding sources, including Measure B.

In phase one, La Escuelita Elementary School will be built to accommodate 360 students from K-5. A Great Room will serve as a cafeteria, gymnasium, and multi-use space with a stage that will be shared by all schools in the area. The site will also include a health Clinic, KDOL TV studio and the District IT data Centers. In phase two, Met West High School will be built for 180 high school students and a Child Development Center will accommodate 168 students. The project will also contain a kindergarten play area, shared playing field, community produce garden and on-grade parking.

In addition to our work at the DEC, we are also concurrently providing constructability reviews and construction management oversight. We review drawings for plumbing, fire and sprinkler, electrical, mechanical and food service for several school sites throughout the District.
