Santa Ana-Garden Grove Fixed Guideway Project
City of Santa Ana

The Santa Ana-Garden Grove Fixed Guideway Project is the backbone of the City of Santa Ana’s overall vision for enhanced mobility, connectivity, access and economic development in central Orange County. Extending between the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) and Harbor Boulevard at 17th Street, the fixed guideway will extend the reach of Metrolink for residents and businesses in central Orange County and generally enhance regional connectivity. With opportunity to connect at an intermodal transit center at Harbor and 17th Street, the guideway will enhance mobility for study area residents and provide improved regional access for employees and visitors to key destinations within the study area, including Disneyland and surronding resort areas in Anaheim and Garden Grove, planned future development along the Pacific Electric Right-of-Way (PE ROW) and the Santa Ana Civic Center.

Under contract to the City of Santa Ana, Cordoba Corporation is leading the current phases of the project, which have been funded by the Orange County Transportation Authority through the Go Local Step 2 program. The Santa Ana-Garden Grove Fixed Guideway Corridor Study consists of detailed planning and alternatives analysis (AA), conceptual engineering and environmental clearance. The study process is consistent with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements for pursuing Small Starts funding. The environmental analysis satisfies the requirements of both the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). At the end of the approximately 24-month study process, a locally preferred alternative (LPA) will be recommended and adopted by Santa Ana City Council. Applications will be submitted to FTA to request permission to enter into Project Development and to be considered for Small Starts funding and included in the President’s budget.
