In April 2019, Cal State Fullerton’s Titan TV’s Latino Communicators Series featured Cordoba Corporation President & CEO George L. Pla, a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and author, in a Spanish-language video interview. In the interview, George shares how he and his family emigrated from Mexico to East Los Angeles when he was a young child. He shares about his personal and professional journey, and also discusses how he recently became a published author of the formative book about Latino politics, Power Shift.

 

On April 4, 2019, Cordoba Corporation joined the Long Beach Community College District in celebrating the ribbon-cutting on of Building D, which houses the Science programs at the Liberal Arts Campus! This video features District officials sharing their excitement and pride about this important project. Contracted as the District’s Bond Management Team, Cordoba provides comprehensive program and construction management services in support of the capital bond program (Measure E and LB) to modernize and renovate two Long Beach City College campuses. The Building D Project included renovation of the building’s first floor with new classrooms and lab areas, plus paint and cosmetic updates for existing offices; creation of a second microbiology classroom on the second floor that has doubled past capacity; new data cables throughout the entire building and audio/visual upgrades in new areas; upgrades to all student and staff restrooms with water-conserving, low-flow fixtures; energy efficient replacements of two rooftop HVAC units and an exhaust fan.

“Pleibol! From the Barrios to the Big League” is set to open at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in October 2020 to coincide with the World Series.

Cordoba Corporation proudly supports this upcoming exhibition as well as research, collecting and object processing related to Latino civil rights and electoral politics. The Smithsonian Center for Learning and Digital Access produced this video about the upcoming Latinos and Baseball exhibit and it features three objects donated by Cordoba Corporation’s Executive Vice President & COO Randall Martinez‘s brothers and sisters.

Cordoba Corporation’s Managing Partner & Chief Financial Officer Maria Mehranian presented at the sixty-third session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women on March 11, 2019 at the UN Headquarters in New York City. Maria participated on a panel discussion focused on “Developing Infrastructure and Access to Public Services to Improve Gender Equality.” The presentation was focused on the importance of promoting, sponsoring and funding specific types of infrastructure in developing countries that enhance women’s access to capital and ultimately results in economic and social empowerment of women. Pla, who received his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California (USC), has been honored by the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy (Price School) as part of its year-long 90th Anniversary Celebration.  George is included in a campaign highlighting notable Price School alumni (“Price Pioneers”) who are representative of the Price School’s impact and vision.  The Price School has produced the enclosed video sharing featuring George noting that he exemplifies the mission of the Price School through his professional leadership and dedication to diversity.

LLC. showcasing Oakland Unified School District‘s Fremont High School Redevelopment Project.  In the video, Huy, who is serving as Construction Manager on behalf of Cordoba Corporation for this project, provides a construction update and discusses how we are working with local partners to ensure OUSD’s Local Business Utilization goals are being met.  We are excited to see the progress for this important project to enhance the facilities and learning environment at Fremont High School!
