Inland Feeder

Metropolitan Water District (MWD) Inland Feeder Program, Arrowhead Tunnels and Highland Pipeline

San Bernardino, CA

Cordoba Corporation worked with the construction management team to provide schedule monitoring and claims analysis as well as 24-hour quality control inspection services as part of the construction of the Arrowhead (East and West) Tunnels and the Highland Pipeline segments.

The $1.2 billion, 44-mile Inland Feeder water line nearly triples water delivery take away capacity from the State Water Project’s east branch. This project is part of a larger program that includes 95,000 feet of large diameter tunnels and 135,000 feet of buried pipeline from the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains to the Colorado River. As the state wrestles with solutions to problems in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, the operational flexibility offered by the Inland Feeder will help protect the Delta’s fragile environment by allowing Metropolitan to take water during wet periods when water is plentiful and relax pumping during dry periods. The water can then be saved in Southern California MWD reservoirs and groundwater basins for later use.
