Completed in 2009, the $1.2 billion, 44-mile Inland Feeder water line fully integrates the Southern California MWD\u2019s distribution system, connecting State Water Project (SWP) supplies with the Colorado River Aqueduct to flow into Diamond Valley Lake reservoir. It nearly triples Metropolitan\u2019s water delivery take away capacity. The Inland Feeder was one of the largest water lines built in the past three decades. Construction of the Inland Feeder, particularly the project\u2019s Arrowhead west and east tunnels under the San Bernardino Mountains, was difficult as these tunnels traversed extremely difficult geologic conditions with numerous earthquake fault zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
