The Rinconada Water Treatment Plant is the second largest of the Santa Clara Valley Water District\u2019s plants. Completed in 1967 by the Santa Clara County Flood Control and Water Conservation District \u2013 the precursor to today\u2019s Santa Clara Valley Water District \u2013 the plant can treat and deliver up to 80 million gallons of water each day for retailers who supply residential and commercial users in the West Valley, including the cities of Santa Clara, Campbell, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and Los Altos and the towns of Los Gatos and Los Altos Hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Reliability Improvement Project is aimed at retrofitting, upgrading and\/or replacing key equipment that is reaching the end of its natural life, addressing the areas of raw water ozone, flocculation and sedimentation, filtration and redundant disinfection. The work will also increase the plant\u2019s treatment capacity from 80 million gallons of water a day to 100 million gallons a day and help the district meet increasingly stringent standards for water quality, seismic stability and safety. The project is expected to be completed in 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cordoba has provided executive program management services for Phases 2-6 of the Rinconada Water Treatment Plant Reliability Improvement Project. During construction, the project had fallen behind schedule when Cordoba was hired to address the issues. We initiated our efforts by conducting a forensic analysis of the project to determine the key conditions including the financial and operational risk to Valley Water. Cordoba professionals recommended several mitigation steps including modification of the project schedule to create a break point at the end of Phase 2 of the 6 phases. This break enabled implementation of mitigation efforts. Valley Water subsequently expanded our scope to include project management and construction management services for the project. We negotiated with the contractor, managed plant shutdowns, and ensured continued operations through effective change estimation, constructability reviews, cost and schedule analysis, and risk management. We closed out Phase 2 of the project per the revised schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Valley Water then prepared a new bid package for the remainder of the work and expanded our contract to perform program and project management services for the remaining Phases 3-6 of the project, which includes cost and schedule analysis, preconstruction bidding support, risk management, asset management, safety management, regulatory compliance support, and a variety of operational, environmental, and construction management tasks for the remaining construction phases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
