The project involved the design, construction, implementation and integration of over 400 security cameras at LBCCD’s Liberal Arts Campus and approximately 200 security cameras at the Pacific Coast Campus.

The project included data infrastructure upgrades at both campuses to support the additional bandwidth on the network. Cameras were placed on over 45 buildings ranging in age from 1926 to current construction projects. The security cameras have enabled campus police and the Long Beach Police Department to have additional tools when investigating incidents and provide for a safer environment for students, faculty and staff.

Cordoba’s team members who led the District-Wide Surveillance Monitoring Project include: Program Director Terrance DeGray, Construction Managers John Duong and Noel de Castro, Assistant Construction Manager Josh Beltran, Field Engineers Russell Jones, Aielo Jimenez and Victor Munoz, and Program Coordinator Nicole Soria Velarde, with support from the entire Bond Management Team.

“This project is not the largest dollar amount project our team has worked on, but I’m most proud of this project and team, because it truly exemplifies what Program Management & Construction Management is all about,” stated Terrance DeGray. “This project was a true team effort with all stakeholders through the entire life of the project, from the initial assessment phase to project closeout. LBCCD went from zero cameras to around 600 security cameras within a two-year period.”

Proper planning allowed the Bond Management Team to phase the installation of the security camera support infrastructure in such a way as to not impact the active buildings and make the installation look as though it was part of the original building construction. Effective communication and stakeholder notification were key to the project’s success. Notably, there was only a 0.54% change order percentage on this $2.6 million project.

This year’s CMAA SoCal Chapter Project Achievement Award marks the third such award Cordoba Corporation’s Bond Management Team has earned for its work at LBCCD. In 2018, the team received a Project Achievement Award for the Electrical Technology Buildings Project (QQ/RR) at the Pacific Coast Campus, and in 2017 the team was honored with a Project Achievement Award for the Student Services Building Project (Building GG) at the Pacific Coast Campus.

###

Contact: Communications Department, Cordoba Corporation
Phone: (213) 895-0224 Email: communications@cordobacorp.com

About Cordoba Corporation: Founded in 1983, Cordoba Corporation is statewide full-service engineering, construction management and program management firm specializing in the delivery of infrastructure projects in transportation, education, water and energy sectors.
