NSPE is celebrating licensed professional engineers with the <a class=\"sublargetextlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nspe.org\/resources\/professional-engineers-day\/why-i-became-a-pe\">fourth annual Professional Engineers Day<\/a>\u00a0on <strong>Wednesday, August 7, 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Cordoba Corporation is joining the NPSE in raising awareness about what it means to be a PE, recognize licensed PEs, and show appreciation for the work they do each and every day.\u00a0\u00a0We are proud of all of our Engineers!\u00a0 Today, on <strong>Professional Engineers Day &#8211; #LicensedPEday2019<\/strong>, we are thrilled to acknowledge some of our licensed Professional Engineers who are Making a Difference for our clients and communities across the State of California! Below is a partial list of our very talented PEs and other Engineers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4739 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Anthony-1-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Randall Anthony <\/strong>has over 35 years of experience in heavy civil, mechanical, and electrical construction in the public utilities business sector with recent experience in the highly regulated energy conveyance industry.\u00a0 His experience includes significant positions within the hydroelectric and electric distribution operations and maintenance industries.<\/p>\n<p>Randall has a background that includes end-to-end program management and planning.\u00a0 He has a demonstrated ability to solicit input from all major stakeholders and drive the design and construction of major projects to a successful conclusion that meets the needs of operations, maintenance, local agencies, and owners\u2019 objectives.\u00a0\u00a0He also has a proven ability to effectively manage a variety of maintenance and construction field problems in complex logistical environments.<\/p>\n<p>Randall is currently a Senior Project Manager on the San Diego Gas &amp; Electric (SDG&amp;E) Fire Risk Mitigation (FiRM) Program, an initiative that proactively addresses fire risk by \u201chardening\u201d the critical areas within SDG&amp;E\u2019s service area most at risk for wildfires.\u00a0 This includes replacing older wood overhead distribution line elements using advanced technology and improving the system to adequately handle known weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Randall is responsible for management of the construction aspects of the FiRM Program and supervises a team that is responsible for construction tracking and scheduling as well as the coordination and tracking of post construction inspection activities. \u00a0As such, he is charged with developing process mapping and procedures, conducting progress reporting, implementing metrics to track program success and coordinating and prioritizing resources.\u00a0 Shortly after Cordoba\u2019s arrival on the FiRM Program, the post construction inspection program was expanded to include audit inspections of circuits constructed in prior years.\u00a0 With this expansion, Cordoba is currently managing 17,000 inspection findings with more to come in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>Randall is a licensed Professional Engineer and he has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fresno.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4741 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Cuevas-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Sandra Cuevas<\/strong> is a Project Manager at Cordoba Corporation, where she has worked on large-scale transportation projects throughout Southern California. Over her 20-year career she has provided expertise in program management; transportation planning; roadway and rail project design; cost estimating; and construction support.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra is currently supporting design and engineering activities as part of the advanced conceptual engineering (ACE) program for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority\u2019s (Metro) Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra\u2019s experience includes serving as the Project Manager for the California High Speed Rail Program\u2019s Los Angeles to San Diego section, where she oversaw planning activities and early environmental analysis activities. She also served as Deputy Project Manager for the Burbank to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to Anaheim sections of the program, helping oversee the development of the environmental document, preliminary design and contract management.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Cuevas has also provided design and engineering expertise to several other landmark transportation projects in Southern California, including Metro\u2019s Expo Light Rail Project (Phase 1 and Phase 2), Metro\u2019s Orange Line Busway and Metro\u2019s Edward R. Roybal Gold Line Eastside Extension. In addition, Sandra supported the Design Team that developed the alternatives analysis for the OC Streetcar, and she led outreach and coordination efforts with the cities in Orange County on behalf of the Orange County Transportation Authority GO Local Program.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in California. She earned her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4743 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_De_La_Pe\u00f1a-1-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Melissa de la Pe\u00f1a<\/strong>\u00a0has over 25 years of experience in transportation engineering and management of large infrastructure projects in Southern California. She is a leader in Cordoba\u2019s Transportation Infrastructure sector where she currently serves as the Project Manager for the advanced conceptual engineering (ACE) design and urban design services in support of the reinitiated environmental clearance study for Metro\u2019s Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to her current role, Melissa served as the Regional Manager for the Burbank to Los Angeles to Anaheim corridor of the 800-mile statewide California High-Speed Rail Project. She was responsible for the overall management of a multi-disciplinary consultant team consisting of several consulting firms responsible for the planning, public outreach, conceptual and preliminary design, and the preparation of required environmental documentation.<\/p>\n<p>Melissa is a Past President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Women\u2019s Transportation Seminar (WTS-LA). She cites her tenure as WTS-LA President as a transformative opportunity and an excellent learning experience.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2017, the California High-Speed Rail Authority honored Melissa with the Excellence in Community Involvement Award for her work with local high schools and mentorship programs, and her continued involvement with introducing the field of engineering and transportation to young students, many from disadvantaged communities. Earlier this year she completed a mentorship program with students at her alma matter, Narbonne High School in Harbor City.<\/p>\n<p>Melissa is licensed Professional Engineer with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4744 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Garza-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>David Garza\u00a0<\/strong>has over twenty years of structural design and construction experience ranging from commercial, light industrial, institutional, municipal, healthcare, utilities and residential.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently managing Cordoba Corporation\u2019s Design &amp; Engineering Center, based out of our Santa Ana Office.\u00a0 The Design &amp; Engineering Center\u00a0is an interdisciplinary group of select Cordoba Team Members who are supporting design and engineering needs across multiple sectors.<\/p>\n<p>During David\u2019s career, he has managed and designed numerous projects using all standard engineering materials, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, light gauge steel, masonry and wood, and is an industry wide recognized expert using precast\/prestressed reinforced concrete in bridge design and commercial construction.<\/p>\n<p>David earned his B.S. in Structural Engineering from California State University, Fullerton and he is currently working on completing his M.S. in Structural Engineering at California Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is affiliated with several industry organizations, including the American Institute of Steel Construction, American Society of Civil Engineers, Precast\/Prestressed Concrete Institute, American Iron and Steel Institute, Structural Engineer Association of Southern California, Cold Formed Steel Engineers Institute, and the California Steel Framing Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>David is a licensed Professional Civil and Structural Engineer as well as a licensed General Contractor in the State of California.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4745 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Gavrilov-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Evgeny Gavrilov<\/strong> is a Senior Engineer with over 33 years of extensive roadway and grading design experience. He is currently supporting several transportation\u00a0 projects at Cordoba Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Evgeny is highly regarded for his depth of knowledge and his dedication to attending to the technical details of every project to which he is assigned.\u00a0 His work history demonstrates the range of experience and the increasing skills, responsibilities and exposure to projects that make him invaluable.\u00a0 His comprehensive design experience enables him to quickly review the design of others and provide expert guidance<\/p>\n<p>Evgeny\u2019s recent projects include serving as the Senior Design Lead responsible for the roadway design for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority\u2019s (Metro) Crenshaw\/LAX Transit Corridor Project. Evgeny was responsible for the design of vertical profiles, horizontal alignments, street reconstruction, sidewalk, and curb\/gutter elements of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Other recent projects include the Inland Valley Development Authority\u2019s 3rd Street Improvement Project within the City of Highland. \u00a0Evgeny served as the Senior Design Lead, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the full PS&amp;E design efforts.\u00a0 In addition, Evgeny served as the Lead Roadway Designer for a project that vacated a portion of 33rd Street in the City of Los Angeles. Evgeny coordinated the roadway, drainage, and utility design, and developed an approved PS&amp;E package.<\/p>\n<p>Evgeny is a licensed Professional Engineer in California. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and his master\u2019s degree in Highway Engineering, both from Sofia Polytechnic Institution at the University of Bulgaria.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4746 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Grace-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Chelsea Grace<\/strong> is an experienced Project Manager who brings unique experience to Cordoba Corporation. She is currently working as Construction Manager for San Diego Gas &amp; Electric\u2019s Fire Risk Mitigation (FiRM) Program, for which Cordoba Corporation is providing program, project and construction management services.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea works with the job walk teams, construction crews, project managers, and the FiRM team to construct improved distribution lines and remote sensing equipment to reduce the fire risk in San Diego County.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Cordoba Corporation, Chelsea spent 11 years working at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, as well as bases in Yokosuka, Japan, San Diego, California, and others throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea started her naval civilian career as an Environmental Engineer, where she managed industrial waste and the Pollution Prevention Program for the naval shipyard. Her most influential job was leading an innovation network \u2013 facilitating expert mechanics, engineers, and warfighters to invent new ways to design and maintain aircraft carriers.\u00a0 This effort resulted in initiatives that improved safety, reduced environmental impact, and saved millions of dollars and thousands of hours in labor.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea also managed the Risk Program for over 3,700 professionals on the USS Carl Vinson maintenance availability, and later became the Project Engineering and Planning Manager for the USS Ronald Reagan. In this role, she built a team of senior leaders including Department of Defense civilians, officers from the USS Ronald Reagan, and contractors from the US and Japan to support the mission of the forward-deployed USS Ronald Reagan.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea earned her M.B.A. with a Certificate in Finance and a focus on Sustainable Business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute. She earned a Certificate in Organizational Leadership from Olympic College and her B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Montana State University, Bozeman.\u00a0\u00a0Chelsea is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4747 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Paz-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Ray Paz<\/strong> is an executive with program\/project management, engineering, construction, inspection, and operations experience in the electric utility, school construction, residential electrical and security industries.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Cordoba Corporation, Ray worked for 35 years with\u00a0 Southern California Edison (SCE). \u00a0In his most recent role at SCE, he served as Director of the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project (TRTP).\u00a0 Ray was responsible for leading a project team on TRTP Segments 4-11.\u00a0 He managed significant political, regulatory and financial strategies to assure that this multi-billion-dollar electrical infrastructure project was successfully executed.<\/p>\n<p>Ray also managed many other capital projects at SCE, including transmission and substation facilities, natural gas\/coal\/hydro\/photovoltaic generation facilities, and corporate\/regional building facilities. His experience also includes working in senior-level positions for several other Edison International companies, including Edison Select, Edison On-Call and Edison Security Services.<\/p>\n<p>Since joining Cordoba Corporation, Ray has contributed his expertise to several programs and projects, including the deployment of a collaborative project management tool for post-construction inspection services on San Diego Gas &amp; Electric\u2019s Fire Risk Mitigation (FiRM) Program and project management services for the Imperial Irrigation District for the planning and construction of various transmission line projects.<\/p>\n<p>Ray is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and he earned his B.S. with high honors in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4748 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cordobacorp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/LinkedIn_300x250_Rodriguez-300x250.png\" alt=\"Professional Engineer with quote about engineering\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/>Cordoba Corporation is pleased to welcome <strong>Jose Rodriguez<\/strong> as a Civil Engineer on Cordoba\u2019s team supporting the advanced conceptual engineering (ACE) for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority\u2019s (Metro) Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2.<\/p>\n<p>Jose has over 11 years of experience in structural design and QA\/QC work for infrastructure products, and he is well versed in coordinating projects among Engineering Managers, Project Engineers, Designers, and CADD Drafters.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Jose worked as a Project Engineer for a provider of precast concrete for the dry and wet utility markets. \u00a0Jose managed a team of drafters and helped oversee daily operations of the Engineering Department, including preparing designs for reinforced concrete utility structures, prestressed foundation piles, and minor steel products utilizing applicable design standards including AASHTO, ACI, AREMA, ASTM, and Caltrans specifications.
