In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic concerns, it is important to celebrate successes.\u00a0 Today, Cordoba Corporation salutes our client San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E)<\/a><\/strong> for its commitment to its customers and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic and for its diversity and inclusion initiatives.<\/p>\n

SDG&E, along with many of our state\u2019s utilities, is working with its customers on flexible payment solutions, suspending disconnections during the COVID-19 pandemic, and providing financial support to local communities and non-profits, such as the San Diego COVID-19 Community Response Fund<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 SDG&E\u2019s $1 million donation to the San Diego COVID-19 Community Response Fund will support local nonprofits that help the needy with food, rent and utility bill assistance.\u00a0 For more information about these SDG&E initiatives, please visit SDG&E\u2019s website at www.sdge.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition, SDG&E is a leader with diversity and inclusion initiatives, and we are pleased to share that SDG&E\u2019s Supplier Diversity Department recently honored Cordoba Corporation with its \u201cBest in Class Award\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and included Cordoba Corporation in SDG&E\u2019s Diverse Business Enterprises 2019 Annual Report \u2013 2020 Annual Plan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Best in Class Award<\/strong>\u00a0was presented to Cordoba in December 2019 at the SDG&E Supplier Diversity Department\u2019s First Annual Awards & Recognition Luncheon. The event honored SDG&E employees who have supported the utility\u2019s supplier diversity efforts and suppliers who consistently exceed SDG&E\u2019s goals and provide excellent service to the utility.\u00a0 The top award provided at the event was the\u00a0Best in Class Award<\/strong>, which was presented to Cordoba\u2019s\u00a0Senior Vice President for Energy Infrastructure Lucy Labruzzo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0Best in Class<\/strong>\u00a0Award<\/strong>\u00a0is a testament to our team in San Diego and the excellent level of service they provide to SDG&E,\u201d stated\u00a0Lucy Labruzzo<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cThe award is a recognition of our team\u2019s technical proficiency and the common goals Cordoba shares with SDG&E, including supporting other diverse suppliers, investing in the local community, and \u2018Making a Difference\u2019<\/strong> where we live and work.\u00a0 I was humbled to be able to accept this prestigious award and I congratulate all of our Energy Team members for setting the standard for being\u00a0Best in Clas<\/strong>s<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pla<\/strong>\u00a0and highlights the reasons for SDG&E\u2019s selection of Cordoba Corporation as the\u00a0Best in Class<\/strong>\u00a0Award<\/strong>\u00a0honoree as follows:<\/p>\n

\u201cCordoba exemplifies the values of SDG&E\u2019s Best in Class award with a company mission to \u2018make a difference where you live and work.\u2019 Demonstrating their commitment to the community and SDG&E,\u00a0Cordoba purchased a 38,000 sq. ft. building in San Diego, creating a collaborative workspace for SDG&E\u2019s fire hardening program (FiRM). Cordoba has a history of partnering with local and state\u00a0stakeholders to ensure a balanced approach to energy infrastructure, fire hardening and the importance of diversity. Cordoba believes in \u2018paying it forward,\u2019 contributing almost $1 million to local nonprofits.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

SDG&E and the state\u2019s other investor-owned utilities submit their annual supplier diversity reports to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as required by CPUC General Order (GO) 156. GO 156 established the rules for the CPUC\u2019s Utility Supplier Diversity Program, which has served as a proven model to promote competition and encourage greater economic opportunities for diverse suppliers. We are proud of SDG&E for its continued success in \u2018Making a Difference\u2019<\/strong> with its outstanding supplier diversity program, and we are honored to be featured as\u00a0\u2018Best in Class\u2019<\/strong> in this year\u2019s annual diversity report,\u201d stated George L. Pla<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This year marks the fourth year in which Cordoba Corporation has been highlighted in SDG&E\u2019s annual diversity report.\u00a0 Cordoba has also been featured by SDG&E\u2019s sister utility, Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), in its 2018 and 2017 supplier diversity reports to the CPUC.\u00a0 The parent company of SDG&E and SoCalGas, Sempra Energy, presented Cordoba Corporation with Sempra Energy\u2019s Jeff Thorson Diverse Supplier of the Year Award in 2018.<\/p>\n
