According to the National Society for Professional Engineers (NPSE), the first professional engineering license was issued to Charles Bellamy in Wyoming on August 8, 1907.\u00a0 Since that time, licensure has expanded and professional engineers across the U.S. have made the commitment to protect the public health, safety, and welfare. NSPE is celebrating licensed professional engineers with the\u00a0fifth annual Professional Engineers Day<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday, August 5, 2020<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cordoba Corporation is joining the NPSE in raising awareness about what it means to be a PE, recognize licensed PEs, and show appreciation for the work they do each and every day.\u00a0\u00a0We are proud of all of our Engineers!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, on\u00a0Professional Engineers Day – #LicensedPEDay2020<\/b>, we are thrilled to acknowledge some of our licensed Professional Engineers who are “Making a Difference”<\/strong> for our clients and communities. Below is a partial list of our very talented PEs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateMichael Boomsma<\/strong> is a nationally recognized Program and Construction Management professional with extensive field experience to go along with a background in civil engineering and business administration.\u00a0 Michael brings a wealth of design and construction knowledge with practical applications from years of leading project teams.\u00a0 He specializes in leading diverse stakeholders through the planning, design, and construction of complex publicly funded facilities and associated infrastructure. Throughout his career, he has continually met critical milestones and budget goals while providing technical and management services with steadfast professionalism.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Cordoba\u2019s Education and Facilities sector. As Principal-in-Charge, Michael supports a wide range of projects by providing Program Management, Construction Management, Program Controls, ADA Transition Plan generation and implementation, IT Infrastructure implementation, and staff augmentation services.\u00a0 He is directly responsible for the successful planning, procurement, and delivery of all Education and Facilities sector projects throughout the state.\u00a0 On several projects, he provides technical expertise in support of ongoing bond programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the United States Air Force (USAF) Academy and his MBA from Florida State University. He serves as a Colonel in the USAF Reserves, is a licensed Professional Engineer, a Certified Construction Manager (CCM), and a LEED Accredited Professional. In February 2016, Michael was selected by Engineering News-Record (a nationally recognized industry publication) as a \u201cTop 20 Under 40\u201d construction management professional in California.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Koray Bozkurt<\/strong> is a new addition to Cordoba Corporation\u2019s Transportation Team.\u00a0He is currently working on sidewalk repair projects for the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n

Koray has extensive experience in successfully managing multiple ongoing civil, geotechnical, and structural projects and a well-established history of leading top-performing teams to complete national and international projects involving roadways, retaining walls, buildings, railroads, waterways, and land development endeavors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some key projects include Koscluszko Bridge (NY), New Tappan Zee Bridge (NY), Milliken Ave (Ontario, CA), I-476 Turnpike, PA I-90 Tollway (Chicago, IL), BNSF Kelso to Martin Bluff (WA), and Bahce-Nurdagi High Speed Rail (Turkey).<\/span><\/p>\n

Koray is a registered Professional Engineer with a M.S. in Project Management and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of the District of Columbia. He is fluent in English and Turkish with conversational skills in Spanish.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateGurneet Chatha<\/strong> joined Cordoba Corporation in 2019 as the Project Manager for San Diego Gas & Electric Company’s Fire Risk Mitigation Initiative (FiRM). She brings over 10 years of experience in transmission and distribution design and high voltage substation SCADA design projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gurneet\u2019s experience includes successfully managing over 20 designers as an onsite distribution lead for a fast-paced distribution program. She has participated in delivering a range of small to large complex projects from planning through close-out, including detailed design and analysis of high voltage transmission lines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gurneet is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She earned her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplatePhilip J. Clark<\/strong> is a new addition to Cordoba Corporation\u2019s Water Infrastructure sector, working as a Field Engineer on the Santa Clara Valley Water District\u2019s Rinconada Water Treatment Plant Reliability Improvement Project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philip brings 30 years of water system knowledge and experience from a successful career at the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP), serving in expert advisory roles and providing project and program management expertise on several large projects, including the San Fernando Basin groundwater remediation projects, the Neenach Pumping Station, and the Tank and Reservoir Nitrification Control Program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philip\u2019s experience includes serving as LADWP\u2019s Groundwater and Treatment Planning Group Manager, where he oversaw the planning of numerous water supply projects to search for new and upgrade existing well fields in the Central Basin; various treatment and disinfection facilities; a new Los Angeles aqueduct sedimentation filtration facility; various smaller in-city filtration and treatment projects; and solutions to in-city tank and reservoir nitrification issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philip is a licensed Professional Engineer with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in energy management and systems from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a certificate in Project Management from the University of California, Irvine.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateAlan Phillips<\/strong> is a Mechanical Engineer with over 40 years of experience in energy infrastructure, including gas and liquid\u00a0petroleum pipelines, gas compressor and regulator stations, renewable energy, refineries, and power and cogeneration plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

His experience includes all project phases, including front end studies, preliminary and detail engineering and design, procurement, quality control, construction, construction support and closeout. Additionally, Alan supports transportation projects with his skills in utility coordination and project management, traffic controls plans, utility interface and design review.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alan recently retired from his position as Director of Engineering for Cordoba\u2019s Energy Infrastructure sector, and now serves as a consulting engineer to Cordoba for business development, quality control and other support activities on an as-needed basis. He enjoys working part-time with the Cordoba team and welcomes opportunities to mentor and help where needed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alan is a registered Mechanical Engineer and he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateAlexander Pulido<\/strong> is an Engineering and Design Quality Project Manager at Cordoba Corporation, where he is currently providing project and program management leadership on San Diego Gas & Electric Company’s Pole Risk Mitigation and Engineering (PRIME) Program. He is an experienced engineer and has supported other major projects and programs at SDG&E, including power transmission and distribution fire hardening projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to his work here in Southern California, Alexander led teams supporting such clients as Google, Florida Power & Light, and AT&T, where he provided civil engineering, structural engineering, and project management expertise for telecommunications, renewable energy, electric distribution and electric transmission projects. His efforts included championing improvements of quality, project control and reporting, client interface, change management and trend\/change order identification, as well as leading large teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander is experienced with designing aerial and underground electrical distribution systems, as well as designing transmission lines, performing transmission tower analysis, hardware evaluation, civil\/structural calculations, and foundation design. Alexander has also analyzed and designed modifications for telecommunications towers, equipment platforms and rooms, roof structures, antennas, and ancillary equipment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander is a registered Professional Engineer, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Rick Simon<\/strong> is an experienced transportation engineer with over 38 years of experience. He is currently serving as a Project Manager for two sections of the California High Speed Rail Project \u2013 Bakersfield to Palmdale and Palmdale to Burbank.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rick started his career working for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and was involved in every aspect of major transportation projects. He has served both as Design and Project Manager for numerous major transportation projects throughout Southern California and Arizona.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rick is a registered Professional Engineer with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateLawrence Wong<\/strong> is currently serving as a Program Controls Manager at the Santa Clara Valley Water District\u2019s Rinconada Water Treatment Plant Reliability Improvement Project and as a Project\/Claims Manager for a water reclamation plant in Southern California.<\/span><\/p>\n

With over 30 years of experience, Lawrence has led teams locally and abroad supporting clients such as Southern California Gas Company, Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sanitary Authority, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lawrence is a registered Professional Engineer and a licensed General Contractor. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplateGeorge Younan<\/strong> has over seven years of electrical design and construction experience ranging from residential, commercial, light industrial, and education. He has managed and designed numerous projects using standard engineering materials and practices. His diverse experience includes developing electrical single-line drawings, service connections, interior\/exterior\/site lighting plans, electric vehicle charging stations, and distributed photovoltaic systems. In addition, he is well-versed in Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

George is currently providing leadership and expertise for Cordoba Corporation\u2019s Energy Infrastructure sector as a Senior Electrical Engineer on San Diego Gas & Electrics projects and programs.\u00a0 Prior to joining Cordoba George served in project management and electrical engineering roles for a wide range of projects, including a mixed-use development in National City; the redevelopment of Southern California Edison\u2019s Blythe Service Center; the City of San Diego\u2019s Plaza de Panama & Organ Pavilion Parking Structure at Balboa Park; and San Diego State University\u2019s Engineering & Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex, Tenochca Entry Building, and Tula Conference Center projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

George’s previous projects also include Cal State San Marcos\u2019 Extended Learning Building; San Diego County’s Borrego Springs Library, Sheriff\u2019s Office & Park Project; Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest\u2019s Naval Medical Center in San Diego; and various projects for the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake. In addition, his experience includes supporting electrical distribution programs at Pacific Gas & Electric Company and serving as an Intern at San Diego Gas & Electric.<\/span><\/p>\n

George is a registered Professional Engineer and has a B.S. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Power Systems from California State University, Sacramento.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"TemplatePeter Yu<\/strong> is a Senior Project Manager at Cordoba Corporation, where he is currently providing project management leadership on important gas pipeline projects for San Diego Gas & Electric Company and Southern California Gas Company.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter\u2019s experience also includes managing exploration and production projects, including projects at the Port of Long Beach and in Bakersfield, supporting oil and gas industry clients with piping, oil, and water separation, well work, and pipelines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter is well versed with pipe stress analysis, hydraulic analysis, surge analysis, cost estimating, procurement, scheduling, material specification and construction support.<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer and certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He earned his B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from UC Irvine.<\/span><\/p>\n
