Cordoba Corporation is thrilled to celebrate the opening of \u201c\u00a1De \u00faltima hora! Latinas Report Breaking News\u201d at the Smithsonian\u2019s National Museum of American History, an exhibition made possible by Cordoba\u2019s commitment to support Latino History initiatives. <\/p>\n
This bilingual exhibition will showcase the work of Latina broadcast journalists and how they wrote the first draft of history for Spanish-speaking audiences through their news reports. <\/p>\n
\u201c\u00a1De \u00faltima hora! Latinas Report Breaking News\u201d allows audiences to explore broadcast journalism through the collective experience of Ilia Calder\u00f3n, Dunia Elvir, Marilys Llanos, Gilda Mir\u00f3s, Lori Montenegro, Mar\u00eda Elena Salinas and Blanca Rosa V\u00edlchez. The exhibition highlights how these women advocate for Spanish-speaking communities while navigating the fast-paced, ever-changing environment of breaking news.<\/p>\n
The exhibition opens to the public today, Sept. 15, 2023, and will be on view for approximately 18 months, until March 2025. The exhibition will have a companion website which will be expanded on over time as well as educational materials through a video series, \u201cLatinas Talk Latinas\u201d which is aimed at middle and high school age audiences.<\/p>\n
The museum has curated exhibitions that examine a broad slice of Latina\/o history and
\nculture, including \u201cAz\u00facar! The Life and Music of Celia Cruz,\u201d \u201cBittersweet Harvest: The
\nBracero Program 1942-1964,\u201d \u201cNot Lost in Translation: The Life of Clotilde Arias,\u201d \u201cPleibol! In
\nthe Barrios and the Big Leagues\/En los barrios y las grandes ligas\u201d and \u201cA Vision of Puerto
\nRico: The Teodoro Vidal Collection\u201d in addition to including Latina\/o stories throughout other
\nexhibitions, including in business history, girlhood, philanthropy and entertainment history as
\nwell as collections, such as one on Hispanic women and advertising.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
