A construction team broke ground on a $75 million Performing Arts Center at Long Beach City College\u2019s Liberal Arts Campus on Sept. 20. <\/p>\n
The building is replacing the former Music Building G and Theatre Arts Building H to teach arts, music, dance, radio, TV and broadcasting classes. <\/p>\n
The 67,000-square-foot center is being funded by state allocations, Measure E and Measure LB bonds.<\/p>\n
Measure E is a $440 million bond issue passed by voters in 2018 and Measure LB is a $850 million bond issue passed by voters in 2016. Both bond measures have funded construction and renovations at the LBCC Pacific Coast Campus and the school\u2019s Liberal Arts Campus. <\/p>\n
Once open in spring 2026, the two-story building will include instructional classrooms, specialized labs, private music rooms, student studios, a dance studio, a black box studio, a broadcast studio, a new home for the campus radio station, a 236-seat auditorium and an outdoor performance stage. <\/p>\n
