LOS ANGELES, CA — The Cesar Chavez Foundation (Foundation) announces its prestigious Legacy Awards ceremony, scheduled for May 29, 2025, at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. This annual celebration honors individuals who embody the spirit and values of civil rights leader Cesar Chavez through their commitment to service and social justice. This year, the Foundation announced that Cordoba Corporation’s Founder & CEO George L. Pla will be the Legacy Award recipient.
The Cesar Chavez Legacy Awards unites distinguished leaders across business, labor, government, and education to honor Cesar Chavez’s enduring vision while raising vital funds for the Foundation’s education, housing, and social service programs. The Foundation recognizes individuals who embody Chavez’s core values of nonviolent activism and servant leadership, demonstrating unwavering commitment to social justice, community service, and advocacy for underserved populations through transformative action.
“Cesar Chavez taught us a profound truth: that real power flows not from titles or bank accounts, but from our capacity to raise others up alongside us. He transformed the backbreaking work of harvesting grapes into a revolution of dignity—showing us that every human being deserves respect, justice, and a voice. His struggles weren’t just protests; they were wake-up calls that forever changed the soul of America,” reflected Pla. “To receive this recognition from the Cesar Chavez Foundation strikes deep in my heart, because it was Cesar himself who planted the seed of possibility in my mind four decades ago—a seed that would grow into Cordoba Corporation. His mentorship didn’t just shape my career; it shaped my understanding of what it means to lead with purpose and serve with conviction.”
The evening will feature a reception, dinner, and awards ceremony celebrating the honorees’ contributions to community empowerment.
