Cordoba is proud to announce its participation in the WSDOT/Sound Transit Capacity Building Mentorship Program (CBMP), an initiative designed to strengthen and expand opportunities for diverse, small, veteran-owned, minority-owned, and women-owned businesses throughout Washington’s transportation sector. The program pairs experienced prime contractors and consultants with emerging firms to help build capacity, foster long-term growth, and create pathways to greater participation in public infrastructure projects.
The Capacity Building Mentorship Program was established to support underrepresented businesses in competing for and securing contracts on transportation projects throughout Washington State. Through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and strategic business development support, the program seeks to create a stronger, more inclusive transportation industry while helping participating firms build the skills and experience needed to pursue future opportunities.
A key component of Cordoba’s participation in the program is its partnership with SBS, a small business firm selected as Cordoba’s protégé. Through this structured mentor-protégé relationship, Cordoba will work alongside SBS to share knowledge, provide technical guidance, offer business development support, and help strengthen the firm’s capacity to compete for and successfully deliver transportation and infrastructure projects.
The Capacity Building Mentorship Program pairs experienced prime contractors and consultants with emerging firms to foster collaboration, strengthen capabilities, and expand opportunities for participation in public works projects. By facilitating knowledge sharing and professional development, the program helps create a stronger and more inclusive network of businesses positioned to support the delivery of critical transportation infrastructure throughout the region.
As a mentor, Cordoba will collaborate closely with SBS to provide insight into project delivery, client services, operational excellence, strategic growth, and industry best practices. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and building long-term capacity that benefits both organizations and the communities they serve.
“We are honored to partner with SBS through the Capacity Building Mentorship Program,” said Randall Martinez, Principal of Cordoba. “Creating opportunities for small and diverse businesses is essential to strengthening our industry. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and experience, learning from SBS, and supporting its continued growth and success.”
Participation in the program reflects Cordoba’s longstanding commitment to supplier diversity, economic inclusion, and capacity building. By investing in the growth of emerging firms, Cordoba continues to help create pathways for small businesses to access new opportunities, expand their capabilities, and contribute to the successful delivery of transformative infrastructure projects.
The program is administered by Sound Transit’s Office of Civil Rights, Equity and Inclusion as part of its broader efforts to remove barriers, create opportunities, and build capacity for underrepresented businesses participating in projects that support the region’s growing transportation network.
