San Fernando Valley Classic Unites Community at Historic Coliseum

The Greater San Fernando Valley’s most anticipated high school football showdown unfolded on Saturday, October 18, 2025, as the fourth annual San Fernando Valley Classic took center stage at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The event showcased the enduring rivalry between San Fernando Valley High School and Sylmar, drawing students, families, and alumni from across the region.

Proceeds from every ticket directly supported the athletic programs of the competing schools, with no fees charged to the schools themselves.

“This year marked the 4th Annual High School Football Invitational — proudly transformed into the ‘San Fernando Valley Classic’ — spotlighting the timeless rivalry between San Fernando Valley High School and Sylmar,” said George L. Pla, President of the Coliseum Commission. “On October 18th, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum opened its historic gates, not just for a game, but for a moment of true community connection. We did this for the greater Los Angeles community — gave back, didn’t charge a single dollar to participating schools, and ensured every ticket sold went directly into their respective sports programs. It was more than football. It was about legacy, opportunity, and shared pride under the stadium lights.”

Now in its fourth year, the San Fernando Valley Classic has grown into a powerful symbol of community pride and youth opportunity. More than just a game, it celebrated tradition, talent, and the enduring spirit of high school athletics in Los Angeles.
